| YOTES2CALL The vectors and leica locators are available to the public just cost lots$$$$. Don't know much about the newcon's, looked thru one (I think it was a 1000 yarder)when I bought my Leica 1200 but liked the leica better. I have a Leica locator plus and have ranged a cliff face at 6300 yards, backhoe at 4500 and almost anything to 2K-3K CAM

| It has the same laser and receiver as the Vector IV, but not the software that forward deployed assets use to do things like calling for arti, and integration with certain gps systems and DOD infield laptops. |

| I think this unit, the 4000, would be a better choice for long range hunting. Most rangefinders way underperform on deer or elk sized animals. If they advertise 2,000 you are lucky to be able to range a deer at 1,200 yards. I suspect all rangefinder companies test their units in the arctic on a clear morning, ranging tanks painted bright white. Then the marketing people add 10 percent because the test conditions were not quite "IDEAL". http://www.opticsale.com/newcon-optik-long-distance-las...s232-binoculars.htmlUnfortunately for long range hunters, there are no 'logical steps' at this point in time. You have the BS sportsman's models that are lucky to get you to 1,200 yards in ideal conditions, and then the very expensive military grade units that will go to 4,000 and beyond. What we really need is a quality 15 power binocular with a laser and receiver unit that will get us reliably to 3,500 yards on deer sized game in ideal conditions. Then we can be sure it will work at 2,000 when conditions are not so favorable. |

| Anyone know what a CUBIC PRECISION AUTORANGER IIx is and how can I get a power source for it? |

| quote: CUBIC PRECISION AUTORANGER IIx
What little I found on line seems to be a surveying instrument that uses a 12VDC power source. not sure what the limits of distance are but looks too heavy to pack from anything but a truck.
