One 8 twist and one 9 twist. We don't know which one will fly the farthest, but we are going to find out! Custom A.R. Tactical AR-10's, chambered in something like a 22-250 IMP. Adjustable gas blocks, custom forends, triggers, and the like.

A 103 grain .224 boat tail starting at 3160, it could get interesting?

Who makes the 103’s? What is the BC?

Why not go with a 22 Cheetah (.22-243)?

Are those Lilja 3 groove barrels?

I think the B.C. is around .600, I will know more when the testing is complete. I have a Lilja 3 groove in 7 twist, but have not chambered it yet. We are worried about the 9 twist blowing things apart before impact. I not sure we need more powder, and would like to see how things hold up with this size engine, plus easier to load.

The 103 is made by some friends in Tennessee.

Is the 103gr a PT bullet?

A .600 BC pill @ 3160fps should run the R2 reticule, correct?

What kind of barrel life and throat erosion do you think you will see with the 22-250AI shooting the heavier bullets?

1) Yes

2) Not at sea level but will above 6000 ft.

3) Not bad since we coat bullets and don't do a lot of rapid fire on hot days.

What powder do you recommend for the 22-250 or 22-250AI shooting lighter Non-PT bullets?

For the standard 22-250 and bullets 50 grains and lighter I like Benchmark.

For long throats and heavy bullets a compressed load of H-1000 works real well.

For heavy bullets on the improved cases 4831sc or Retumbo with the real heavy stuff.

If you are shooting 50-55 gr pillsin .22-250, Varget is the best I've tried if temp sensitivity is important. If you are not worried about high temps pushing pressures up, H380 loaded up carefully to 39.5 gr with 52 gr AMAX tops 4000 fps out of my 26" barrel. Its hot, 4 loadings before pockets blown, but shoots as tight as any other load I've tried.

If you are concerned about barrel life, 36.8 gr of Varget or RL 15 give me 36xx fps with 52/53 gr SMKs and sub 1/3 MOA at 200m. Needless to say, there is almost no perceivable recoil.

Ok, so I finally get to test these AR-10's with 87 grain PT bullets and Reloaders 22, 41 grains to be precise. Sub 1/4 moa groups and 3375 fps. makes this the smallest caliber ever to run the R2 on the 600 yards system. I mounted a counter torque brake to one of them and watched it cut a hole in the target at 100 yards! First time for me on that with a centerfire rifle.

Recoil??? WHAT RECOIL??? Big Grin Big Grin Cool

They are being tested next week by the entity that ordered them, don't know how soon they will send the data back to me, I am very curious how they will do and what the feed back will be.

So what differences were seen between the 1:8 and 1:9? Did the 1:9 like the heavier stuff?

The 1 in 9 drilled a hole at 100 yds., shot under an inch at 600 yards, and under 3 inches at 1,000 yds. (all 3 shot groups). The 1 in 8 was almost 10 percent larger groups at those ranges.

At 1 mile both barrels best 3 shot group was in the mid 11 inches, and they both averaged about 15.7"
