Here is the first lefthanded Lawton actioned 30 WOLF. It has a 31 inch 5C Broughton barrel, NXS R2, Counter Torque Brake, HS adjustable stock converted to LH, HS DBM, and a left hand Jewel trigger.
Here is a closeup of the Lawton lefthanded action. The flute work on the bolt is outstanding, as is the machine work on the whole action. The 40 MOA rail will easily get this system to 2500 yards. Barney put a ceramic coating on this action that is just the slickest thing I have seen, and the fit of the bolt in the action is just outstanding.
Doesn't look bad for a gun that will never shoot "right"!!!
Can you imagine post777 on a desert floor, out in the open and 5 guys about 2,000 yards away on a mountain ridge at 7,500 ASL, each with one of these loaded up? The Chief says....
S1- "Aye Chief, setting 50 MOA up and 6 MOA left."
S2- "Aye Chief, setting 48 MOA up and 6 MOA left."
S3- "Aye Chief, setting 50 MOA up and 4 MOA left."
S4- "Aye Chief, setting 48 MOA up and 4 MOA left."
Of course Post777 and his eagle eye vision armed with his Glock 40, would have spotted these guys, and would be openly challenging them to a dual......
Post777 - "NANA NANA BOO BOO, YOUR GUNS WILL NEVER SHOOT 'RIGHT', CAUSE THEY ARE LEFT HANDED!!!"
Chief - "Synch fire on my command....3.....2....1......
So I am wondering at this point, what do y'all think are Post's odds.....???
I spoke to Barney Lawton today. He told me he has lefthanded actions in stock right now. I don't know what models, but if you need a lefty, you might want to give him a call.
CAM - Yep I am getting old!!! Was your Nesika WOLF a left bolt left port.....??? If it was I apologize, that would then make Charlie's WOLF the first Lawton Left hander......, unless I forgot somebody else...
Just another good reason to have a 30 WOLF SHOOTOUT at a mile and 1/2, get the Ultra Long Rangers together for a day of data collection and then a day of competition. I think we will make the prize table worth the trip! Some Nightforce scopes and maybe a custom AP4
BTW, how is your beast shooting? What bullets and powder are you burning?
S1 Yes, mine was left bolt left port. But who care's it's a Wolf!!
Congrats to Charlie!!!
I've been working alot!! Still using retumbo and Clinch rivers I did get out one day at -5 deg and crony a load to compare with some normal temp shooting maybe this weekend!
It was cold and the wind was into my face, didn't stay to long, and the crony didn't like it ether. then I whent to 600 and got some drop. now I need to compare the same load and see what I find out.
Went to the range yesterday and watched Sam help Charlie work loads up for his new lawton actioned 30 Wolf. Check out the group that Sam shot in 18 mph winds at 600 plus yards. The winds were gusting between 18 and 25 mph and shifting all over. S1 wind calls were dead on, some kind of 6th sense, its just spooky. 96 grains of Retumbo pushed the 210 berger to 3,244 fps. Watched S1 call the wind for Charlie on 5 targets at 5 different ranges out to 600 in just seconds, all were dead center hits and Charlie nailed the shots. You just are not safe at any distance if a guy like that has you in his crosshairs.
Charlie and Sam did some more load tuning, later in the day when the winds calmed down to about a 7 mph head wind; Charlie got back on the gun and shot this excellent group at over 600 yards. I ordered a Broughton barrel for my 7 Ultra mag, and these results are quite encouraging. Nice shooting Charlie!
Its true, Charley shot a group 1/2 of the size of the group I shot.......It is his rifle, and great to see him make friends with it. Congrats to Charlie on some execellent shooting in conditions that were no where close to ideal.
