Hey Sam, Are you familiar with the Tactical Vent System and Flash Hider built by Jerry Rice, of NorCal Precision? In theory, it performs much of the same principals as an actual suppressor, to wit, reduced muzzle flash and recoil, diffused sound signature and dust signature, but is not considered a suppressor by the BATFE, since the rifle still vents gases to the side and has a sound signature. It was reviewed by Mike Miller, AKA Tactical, on Sniper Country, but his review doesn't seem to say anything the NorCal website doesn't already. Being a New Jersey subject, suppressors are like much of everything else, verbotten. This thing would likely be the closest I can come to a suppressor, short of a departmental issue. Thus far, my major issues with it are in no specific order, the price, which I wouldn't mind paying for a quality, functional item that improved the rifle's performance; the fact that it's at least partially machined into the barrel, which means when the barrel goes, so does the suppressor and it's a half price investment to have it reinstalled on a new barrel, since you already own the removable pieces, and finally the fact that it's not removable, and at least from our few emails, he doesn't offer any type of thread protector/ cover that would allow the rifle so modified to compete in competitions that do not permit suppressors or breaks. Okay, Bro, that's my take, but I was hoping your perfectionist's eye and experience my shed a bit more light on it for me. Is it really anything more then a fancy muzzle break, or is it a next best thing to a suppressor? Respectfully, Harry "Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war,"Shakespeare, Julius Ceasar. I think it is a very effective flash suppressor, most of its design leans that direction. It has no large expansion chamber upstream of its recoil reducing area, and I suspect it is not nearly as effective at the brake side of its claimed function. Did not look at the price, but to do that much machining on the end of a barrel over and around the last part of the helix touching the bullet post lapping of your barrel, can not be good for accuracy.

I would concur with Falcon4, the flash suppressor performance will highly exceed the recoil reduction with this design, and whoooooo on earth wants to take that much metal off a barrel that has already been hand lapped? NOT ME We have a system that does both without extending the barrel length, and machining the barrel so much.

Hey Guys, Thanks for the cranio-rectal inversion. Now that you mention it, it makes perfect sense. Sam, I'd be very interested in learning more about your design. I've read about your anti-torque breaks, but wasn't aware you offered a version which acts as a flash suppressor, as well. Could you please provide information on it?
