Missouri deer season

This week kicked off Missouri's deer season. My 65 year old mother still hunts and shoots with the best of them.

GOOD! This one was taken at about 100 yards with a stock .243.

BETTER! This was taken with an S1 special. .300 WSM all tricked out with an R2 reticle. It was at about 245 yards and running like he was being chased by the po-lice. I hit him a little low but it still took out both lungs and the bottom of the heart. The 178 A-Max performed as promised.

OH MY GOD!!!! My lovely bride (who is 5'4" tall)killed this monster at 100 yards while he was walking through the woods. I figured it weighed about 250 Lbs and has eleven points if you count the one that makes him look like a unicorn.

My farm is in an undisclosed location in north Missouri. Maps are available to the highest bidder!!!!!

Just for reference the rifle in this shot is a Remington 700 that has not been shortened.

After rereading your post Big D, I have to admit I missed the running shot at 245 yards... suppose I was entranced by the pics. Having now had time to consider the said running heart shot, two things come to mind....

1) That was a damn fine shot!!!

2) It sounds a lot like you.....you probably watched that buck for ten minutes feeding calmly, and hoping he would run like hell and make the shot interesting. Eek

Not this time, it was funny. The buck started running one way, I shot and missed (it happens), he stopped cold. I had just enough time to work the bolt and he started running back the way he came, that is when I hit him. With your counter torque break on the gun I think he couldn't tell where the noise was coming from. Big Grin

Showing 1 kill picture is nice, showing 2 kill pictures is a little much, showing 3 kill pictures is just wrong. Sir step away from the deer, step AWAY FROM THE DEER!

I want her cap: that is a way cool hat and obviously has magic powers to draw in monster sized bucks.

Welcome to the forum OVB, and thanks for posting the pic. How about some details, caliber, range, bullet....etc.? Or did you stick him?

35 yards is a tough shot on a live target, nice shootin. Next year I am going hunting with my AR-15 and one of these 147 grain subsonics with a powdered tungsten core.
