I decided to give S1's brake a shot on my new 338 Lapua. Read about the gun here: 338 Lapua
I must say I'm impressed. First, I couldn't find a line between the brake and the barrel. For a minute I thought he may have welded it on and then turned it down. It indeed is threaded. I watch the line literally disappear when I install the brake. As for effectiveness, the torquing of the rifle upon firing is entirely gone (was quite bad before) and now I can't tell the difference between the recoil of the 338 (17 pounds) and my sniper's hide rifle in .308 (16 pounds). |

Nice rifle ktg.
S1's work is the best I've seen. He build me a 6.5 WSM for my son, the machine work, fit, and finish is flawless! He is just completing a .30 Wolf for us, and I already know that will be just as nice a job as the 6.5 WSM. When we first looked over the brake on the WSM we thought it was part of the barrel, the line is invisible. My family and I plan on firing these rifles side by side in a few weeks. Anyone looking for a top shelf gunsmith, look no further! Frank D |

S1 installed a CT brake on an AR10 for me last summer. I have put about 2500 rounds through it since then and am very impressed.
I have probably shot 20-30 coyotes with this rig. The ability to spot your own hits in the field is a huge help. As a general rule you can watch the bullet impact from prone and sometimes sitting. It is quite common to see a red mist through the scope as the bullet impacts. I shot a double last weekend at 106yds and 109yds respectively on a dry lake bed. The sun was low and behind the coyotes. You could see a halo of dust fly off both coyotes on impact. I connected on another the week before at 196yds running and watcher her cartwheel through the scope at 22x. Hearing protection is HIGHLY recommended. I have been trying a pair of Sordin earmuffs and this makes a perfect combination with the CT break. You can hear and see the bullet impact as close as 100yds. |

I have one of those gadgets on two of my rifles. The AR10 goes in the patrol car, and has the glass breaking teeth (have not used the teeth...yet). The other one is on my 300 WSM. With the 308 gas operated AR10, I can shoot accelerated pairs on steel at 100 yards with less than 3 inches of vertical. I know, if you are just like everyone else, you will have to see it to believe it. Sure have suprised a few of the other instructors with it.
The 300 WSM is just ignorant. Not only does it crank a quarter minute at 200 regularly, I can watch the 178 amax splatter on steel at 200 yards could probably see it at 100 yards, but the muzzle blast does not clear from the scope fast enough to tell! S1's brakes outperform everything I have tried, including the New Hollands and the Vias. regards, Don |
