Wind was blowing the truck a bit harder near the last, and resting on the tailgate the hold was less than precise even with the lower winds coming down the valley. Fouling could have opened the groups but unlikely the cause. POA seemed to be moving around about .25 MOA each way as the truck rocked in the wind. Really quite possible these are just some lucky groups, as it seemed to be moving enough I thought these first ones were impossible.

I usually have a target up off the ground so "I" can get on the ground and see it to shoot.... next time for sure.

I went out to 500, 600 and 700 yards and fired a couple at each after I was satisfied it was dialed in at 100, maybe I'll post pix tomarrow. I'm more interested in the ones to come now.

The load I used:
30-338 Lapua Imp - 88gr RL25 with a 210gr JLK, 210M, 3.823" OAL (.005 into lands)

1) .140 MOA - Rifle boresighted, then fired these 3.
2) .210 MOA - .25 MOA RT, then fired these 3.
3) .280 MOA - .25 MOA RT, then fired these 3.

4) .560 MOA
5) .430 MOA - .25 MOA down, then fired these 3.
6) .720 MOA - .25 MOA back up, then fired these 3.

Groups are hard to make out, the plywood backer splits the paper up so bad. I need to put some cardboard back on the front of it next time...

That's really impressive, Brent - especially from a tailgate! How fast with 88g?

3154 - 07 - 3153
3169 - 08 - 3168

3155 - 18 - 3155

3157 AVE - 10' from muzzle

ES is 20 - if you throw out the first fouler shot.

210 JLK
88.0 gr RL-25
GM-210M
3.823" OAL (3.117" ogive w/ Stoney Point tool)
.005" into lands

That's the data I collected while shooting those groups.

I'm headed out today to see what it'll do from the pack on the ground. Maybe I'll get lucky!

I fired the first 4 groups there at a pretty steady pace, not any cooling time, but not real fast either. When a plane landed on the river bar a little off to the right 1/4 mile beyond my target I waited 20-30 minutes for him to get out of there. Seems the barrel heating up was bringing POI up ever so slightly and when I let it cool, then took off a 1/4 MOA it dropped the group more like 1/2 MOA. I'll see if this happens again in the future or if the barrel fouling was producing the rise maybe.

Part of me's tempted to clean the bbl before I head out for more tiny groups, but part of me wonders if the last groups I fired were all it's capable of after that little of fouling, or it was just more wind on the truck. Decisions...

Nice shooting Brent!!! Those groups are a bit different than what I saw you posting last year. Thanks for the velocity data.
