Here is the current version before fireforming.

MV = 1040 fps.

Energy = over 1700 ft. lbs.

Bullet = 750 gr. Hornady A-Max

Barrel = 18" long.

This round only looses about 18 fps per 100 yards!!!

This is what I do with my used 338 Lapua cases.

It is easy to make a switch barrel with anything that shoots a Big Weatherby or Lapua cartridge.

At 800 yards, it still hits you with 1340 ft. lbs.!

What powder and charge weight are you using with that S1? Interesting numbers, what do you reckon the BC is? I know what they say, but....

How does the 50 Whisper compare to the 500 A-Square or 495 A-Square?

Could pulled .50 cal Raufoss bullets be used?

I got stuck building this superlite mobile training table for the D boys down at JRTC, the first mockup will be of the Shugart and Gordon live fire town. COC does all the detail work, it is amazing! I will post a pic or two when it nears completion.

Okay, so I don't get it. I'm not that bright but by my calculations you'd need about 120 MOA to get to 800 yards. It drops like 81 feet.

Don't get me wrong, if Sam's makin' it, I want one. But what exactly is this for? And how in the world would you use it?

Is it a target kind of thing? I'm perplexed.

Cheers,

Lets just say theoretically, that someone may need to shoot through Auto glass, or a Jet canopy, or 1/2" thick tempered glass on a high rise building.

For argument's sake, they could get within 300 yards of the target, but needed the shot to be vewy vewy vewry vewry quiet............

Aha! Hence the name. But how quiet is it? If the projectile is sub-sonic there would be no crack as the bullet goes by. But doesn't it still have a big kaboomy muzzle blast?

No. It is quieter than you would believe, thanks to STW Inc.

S1, do you use a faster twist rate when building a rifle specifically made to be shot at subsonic velocities?

I would bet with a good suppressor the loudest noise would be that 750gr Amax coming to a halt. Even a subsonic 22lr fired out of a suppressed gun makes a hell of a “whap” when it impacts.

yes and yes,

A 1 in 15 twist will stabilize the A-max at supersonic velocities.

The slap is quite audibel from any sub sonic weapon.

I think I need...I mean want one.
Would the 338 LM be a better case to use over the big Weatherby? With the Lapua case what do you headspace off of, the case mouth?

Yes, we used to build them off of the Weatherby case, but found we could trim to our desired case length more consistently than the belts were being made from Weatherby or Norma.

I think I would like to build one of these off an TC Encore platform. What do you think of this, order a 50cal encore barrel blank and send it to you to have it chambered? If this is possible what manufacturer barrel would you suggest to use?

Have never owned or operated a TC Encore, and could not honestly refer you to a barrel maker, as I have no idea who makes them.
