Moose - GREAT PICS!!!!! I knew I liked you for some reason, I used to ride bikes when I was a youngster....... man I so want to go to New Zealand and shoot a monster red stag from 2,000 yards. How long did you get to stay in New Zealand?

This trip is the first trip of the season, known as Springfly (formerly Winfly), and is only 15 days. It's generally darker, and the temps are in the -20 to -50f range on the ice. The subsequent trips of the season are 30 days when it's warmer down on the ice, and there's more daylight. I flew pretty much every other day, with a couple days extra off here and there. One of the Kiwi's I was riding with was big into hunting, but we never could get a schedule toghther for a hunt. Did a little fishing and golf though.

The ride was killer. We logged well over 100 miles around a mountainous peninsula near Christchurch, and stopped in a small town for something to eat. The weather was crap with a little snow in the mountains and some light rain a little lower, but that just made it better. The only pics I got were when were playing on the beach, or stopped for a break/leak, but I'll load a couple more for ya in a minute.

I'm not sure what the address is for general mail. I have a partial one, but I don't know if it will help much (don't know of a good po box number):

McMurdo Station
PSC 469 Box___
APO AP 96599-1035

You could also look here:

That's the USAP's offical site, and if you can't find it there, contact them and they may be able to help you out.

Back in the day, the old guy prefered asphalt.......my last race as an amatuer, a 2 hour endurance race at IRP. One of my best friends, Jimmy Probst, is flying in 2cnd, playing wingman at this point in the race.

My dad and step dad were both gearheads growing up but when I got to that age they put the big halt on any crazy ideas I came up with. Guess they wanted to see me live to an old age.

So the fix was to marry a women who's dad and brother still are gearheads. Collectively they own the following.

2008 Corvette Z06 (Linglenfelter Conversion) 900 hp, custom mini tub rear

1991 Ford Mustang twin turbo (NHRA True Street)
1100 HP (9.2-9.5 avg 1/4)

1993 Ford Mustang single big turbo (NHRA True Street) 700 HP (not sure of times)

1990's Impala SS (LT1 with Paxton Supercharger)
(just back from shop) used to run 10's

1995 Ford Mustang with single turbo 400hp daily driver for Dan Jr.

How could you hate in-laws like this?

man,we gotta start a gearhead n their toys thread! the z06 is my next toy! i had a 2002 z06 but the c6 z is leaps n bounds better that the c5 version.currently, i own a 2007 jeep gc srt8,1997 chevy camaro ss,1981 chevy malibu and a 1999 jeep cherokee with a 4.5 tnt lift and too many mods to list right here.now the list of what i previously owned, hmmm, well,i leave that for the aforementioned gearhead thread!

Roger that, raced there hundreds of times, even won a few there, and had my scariest experience ever on a superbike there on the back straightaway coming down the hill at around 175......

Heh, I grew up near there. I spent many a summer at IRP actually. In fact, my Dad used to work part time there in the summers.

That is pretty cool, I have many great memories of that race track, and the town which include...

1. Ron Widman on his 750 superbike passing two 250 two strokes on the front straightaway in the rain, going backwards...

2. Leading the WERA 6 Hour all the way to the 5:38 mark.....

3. Watching Friz Kling break the track record on a Yamaha FZR 1000 Superbike.

4. Steve Fenton, starting in 92 position and almost making it to the front row before hitting a stalled bike and launching himself 60 feet into the air and over the wall.....

5. Drafting Scott Russel into Turn 3 thinking, "This SOB IS CRAZY!!!!!! Then backing off.....

6. Starting a Superbike National Qualifier with snow falling and 37 degrees temp, leading into turn 1 and driving all the way through sideways at 130 MPH on cold Michelin slicks that refused to hook up, thinking, "So this is what Flat Tracking feeeeeeeels like.........

7. Watching Nicky Hayden's dad balance Nicky's two stroke from the back row, because he was too little to reach the ground with his feet.....
